In this article i’m going to be talking about how you can Make Money Blogging. Blogging is more than just an online diary. There are some technical details and skills you need to be aware of in order to start making money from your blog.
Before we start, let’s just say that blogging is not a get rich quick scheme. Making money from a blog takes a lot of time, hard work, and patience. But this will be a real legitimate business that will set you up for life.
There’s a couple of reasons why blogging is such an excellent business model. First of all, you can work from anywhere in the world and still get paid. You can login to your WordPress dashboard and write blog posts from a laptop, tablet or even your mobile phone.
Second, after the initial hard work, you will reach a stage where your blog will become passive. You could literally not touch it for years and still earn a very good income. So if you want to live the life of freedom and fulfillment that you truly deserve and Make Money Blogging, let’s take a look at what’s involved and how to set this up.
#Step 1: Blog Niche Selection
The first thing you need is an idea of what type of blog you want to start. Is it a fashion blog, a travel blog or do you have a passion for cooking and what to blog about that. Really think hard about what you want and what you enjoy. What are your passions and interests in life. This is an important step because blogging is going to take up a lot of your time.
More important, as previously mentioned, it’s going to take a while before you start earning any kind of income from your blog. So your going to have to sacrifice and enjoy what you do, at the early stages with the lack of income demotivating you.
You can do your niche research by looking on Google or websites such as Amazon to find different niches. To make things easier, I have a free PDF containing a huge list of 1,500+ niches, You can download this 100% FREE.
#Step 2: Hosting
This is an essential step that and you will need this for somewhere to host your website. You can go with the free version of WordPress but I would highly advice against this. The problem with free platforms like WordPress and blogger is there are too many limitations. When it comes to monetizing your blog for example, with Google Adsense, your not actually allowed to use adsense on the free version of WordPress.
Another problem is the limitation on things such as templates, themes and the customization of your site. This is going to be a business, a long term asset. You may as well get setup correctly from the start by getting a self hosted platform for your blog.
There are many hosting companies out there, so how will you know which one to choose? Here are my top recommendations.
#1: Bluehost – https://www.bluehost.com/
#2: Host Gator – https://www.hostgator.com/
#3: SiteGround – https://www.siteground.com/
As you will see if you have checked out the price packages from the above links, you can get hosting for very cheap. You can get a hosting package for less than $5 per month. This is affordable for absolutely anybody to start and get up and running.
#Step 3: Choosing A Domain
The third step is to get a domain name for your blog. Your going to have to choose a name that’s catchy, brandable, and related to your chosen niche. You can also go about this in a another way, and that is to go with personal branding. An example of personal branding is my site here which is chrisburston.com.
Another important factor to take into consideration is to check to see if the domain is actually even available. There are many free tools online for you to check if a domain is available. Just simply type into Google “domain name checker”.
A domain is usually purchased when you get your hosting. Some of the hosting companies even offer deals where you can get a free domain for the first year.
